Goodwill Message by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Hon. Justice A. S. Ibrahim

ON THE OCCASION OF THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF GSS, AGBAMU OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION HELD ON 25TH OCTOBER, 2025 AT SOCIAL REFORMERS CLUB HOUSE, ABULE-EGBA, LAGOS.

Protocols: Distinguished Invited Guests, My Colleagues,

Today marks another milestone in the annals of this Association. I am therefore, grateful to Almighty God for the privilege and gift of life to address you on this auspicious occasion.

In 2022, the first Executive Committee under the leadership of Engr. Samuel Abraham was inaugurated at Ilorin, Kwara State to the excitement of all of us both at home and in diaspora. It is clear as crystal that we have improved and grown because our Association is no longer a toddler. Permit me to express our unalloyed and heartfelt appreciation to the maiden exco members for their services.

However, that administration ended not on a pleasant note because things fell apart when Engr. Samuel Abraham voluntarily resigned his post and Engr. Attahiru Isa who was before then, the Vice President took over in Acting capacity. To cut the unpalatable story short, they were unable to organize a fresh election at the end of their Tenure in “December, 2024”.

An undesirable vacuum was created hence the Board of Trustees in their wisdom and with minimum ado, constituted a 3-Man or 3-Woman Caretaker or Interim Committee under the able leadership of Mrs. Jumoke Afolabi (nee Yusuf) to manage the affairs of our Association. No doubt, you will agree with me that these energetic and intelligent Amazons lived up to expectation. No words are adequate to express our gratitude to them, may God rewards you all in abundance for the colossal selfless service. Premised on the foregoing, by the powers conferred on me and indeed the Board of Trustees, I hereby most respectively, dissolve the Interim or Caretaker Committee with effect from today (25/10/2025).

The Three Wise Men
It is obvious we will not be here today at this occasion if not for the excellent election conducted by the Electoral Committee which to the best of my knowledge, was free, fair and credible and accepted by almost all of us, after all, there can’t be politics without bitterness. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours.

The New Exco It is said that “To whom much is given, much is expected”. We are expecting much from you. Run an open government devoid of sectionalism or chapterization or simply put, avoid favouritism, have in mind; united we stand, divided we fall. Don’t be a victim of the last pitfall. There should be transparent transition to the next exco at the end of your Tenure in September, 2027.

Our dear guests, ladies and gentlemen, I cannot thank you enough for your presence, time and resource expended to honour us, God in His infinite mercy will honour you all. Wishing all of us mercy journey back to our respective homes.

Hon. Justice A. S. Ibrahim
25/10/2025.
